Salsa Steps and Origins
It is hard to say exactly what the origin of Salsa dancing is. Partially because some use the term Salsa dancing as a general term covering many dances and partially because Salsa is a mix of many influences. Most however would give credit to Cuba as the founding country of this style dance. French who moved to Cuba brought the Contra Dance (Country Dance) with them and this style dance began to mingle with Afro-Caribbean rhythms resulting in a unique dance later named by New Yorkers , Salsa.
This dance is famous for its “spiciness” as both dancers get to show their stuff. The mesmerizing dance moves are sensuous, passionate and energetic.
The Salsa came to the United States as early as the 1940's and the popularity has been growing ever since. In recent years, with the increased popularity of Latin singers, new reality dance shows, and with the dance being featured in some major movies, the demand for Salsa lessons has never been greater.
